Newsletter Term 3, 2022

Term 3 is well on its way with a stormy and chilly start. We’d like to welcome all our new families to our swim school and welcome back to our returning families.

Term 3 ends Friday, 23rd September.

Do you know about our free lesson for referrals?

We love and appreciate all our Waterwise families and we thank you for your continued help in spreading the word about our Swim School.

To show our appreciation, if you refer a friend or relative (or even a stranger 😉) and they enrol, you will receive a credit to the value of a lesson ($24) towards your swim fees. This offer has no limit; for every student you refer, you get a free lesson. It’s that simple!

Please make sure anyone you refer remembers to mention your name when they enrol!

New Staff

Our Team is continually growing and we’d like to welcome the newest staff members. You may have already seen them in the pool or at the desk. We are excited about their willingness to grow and learn with their already established knowledge about swimming.

Natalia is teaching with us at Canning Vale and Willetton.

Cassandra is on Reception at Canning Vale.

Kita is on Reception at Willetton.

And Janna is teaching at Willetton this Term, and having a baby in Term 4!

As many of you know, Chad is getting married soon!

Sadly, he is also leaving us after 4 years of being a much loved member of our Swim School. Chad is leaving to work on the install side of swimming pools – so he is staying within the Aquatic Industry, but we won’t have his smiley face around anymore. His last shift is Wednesday, 24th August, but you may still see him around from time to time if we are desperate for a Reception shift to be covered.

We wish Chad and Emma all the best on their upcoming marriage, and we wish Chad fun and happiness in his new role!

How to maximise your child’s class time

Running late is not only stressful for parents and children, but also for the teachers in the water. To help start your child’s lesson go smoothly, and to get the most out of their 30 minute lesson, please aim to arrive at least 10 minutes before your child’s scheduled class. This will allow time for them to use the restroom and settle down before their lesson. Relaxed children make better swimmers. As with every skill your child will learn, practice makes perfect! The best way to cement your child’s swimming skills is to ensure they attend every scheduled lesson, all year round. Swimming skills need to be practiced and repeated so that they become part of your child’s memory and become second nature to them.

Survival Swim with Dani

Did you know Dani has been teaching Survival Swim for over one year now!

Dani first started swim teaching back in Term 1 of 2021. Since then, Dani has been a vital part of allowing our Swim School to grow. Her passion for preventing child drownings is what inspired her to become a Survival Swim teacher. Dani has been teaching our course over 1 year now at Canning Vale on Monday, Tuesday and Friday afternoons, as well as weekend mornings.

Waterwise Willetton Open for 5 years!

September 23rd marks the day Waterwise Willetton opened!

Our little swim school started back in the summer break of 2013. Stacy was teaching kids how to swim faster than most other programs. Wendy joined the team in 2014 and the little swim school started to grow even more. When 2016 came, they met Alex when he enrolled his newborn son into swimming lessons. Wendy and Alex invested in Waterwise and helped Stacy build the new facility which opened in Willetton from Term 4 2017.

Sam got on board in 2019 and helped build the Canning Vale facility which opened in 2020.

We are very grateful for the opportunity we have to make a difference to the hundreds of families in our Waterwise Community.

Benefits of swimming in winter

One of the benefits of swimming lessons in winter is the regular exercise your child will get in the cooler months. Lessons all year assists your child by allowing them to maintain current skills and knowledge they have learnt and it reduces the risk of regression from taking breaks. It also helps build up their immune system’s strength and keep them fitter. You just have to take the necessary precautions to keep them warm. That’s why at Waterwise our pool is heated all year round and we also turn our heaters on in the colder months so your child stays warm and cosy.

We would love all our Dads to be in the draw to win one of our lovely Father’s Day hampers!
